2026 Chick Sale Order Form
The OSU Extension Office will be coordinating a broiler chick order for all 4-H and FFA members enrolled in market chicken projects in 2026. It is not mandatory to purchase your market chickens from the OSU Extension office, but the service is provided, in partnership with the Hardin County Fair Poultry Department, to make purchasing chicks easy and cost effective.

YOUNG ALUMNI AWARD
Hardin County
Kolt Buchenroth of Kenton was awarded the Ohio 4-H Young Alumni Award at the Ohio 4-H Conference on Saturday, March 21, 2026, at the Greater Columbus Convention Center. The Young Alumni Award is presented to a 4-H alumnus who is early in their career and has attributed part of their distinctive achievement and success to their 4-H participation.

A one-day parent advocacy training will take place on May 2, 2026 from 9:30 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. at Don & Margaret Hiliker YMCA in Bellefontaine.
The training is free but space is limited! Parents and caregivers will receive a $100 gift card at the end of the day. Lunch and childcare are provided.

Please note that the location for Family Engagement Day has changed!
In partnership with the Ohio Children's Trust Fund, we are hosting a Family Engagement Day for Child Abuse Awareness Month on Sunday, April 19 from 1:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. at Simon Kenton School, located at 705 N. Ida St. in Kenton.
This FREE event for all ages will include healthy snacks, 4-H line dancing, inflatables and a trackless train, gardening with the Master Gardener Volunteer program, activity and information tables from local partners, and giveaways.

You can submit your book order online at http://go.osu.edu/hardinbooks and we will notify you via email when your books have arrived.
Many of our books are already in stock, but please submit your order at the link above or call our office before journeying out to see us to make sure we have what you need!

Hardin County grower, Jerry McBride, received the Master Farmer Award at the annual Conservation Tillage and Techonology Conference.

Laurie Haney is Hardin County's newest Master Gardener Volunteer. Laurie was presented with a certificate at the February 23 meeting by Agriculture and Natural Resources educator, Nic Baumer.
Laurie is presenting a program on raised bed gardening on Saturday, February 28 at 1:00 p.m at the Ada Public Library (320 N. Main St., Ada). All are welcome!
