  2. Raines Named Top Mid-Career Extension Educator

    Ohio State University Extension Educator, Amanda Raines, received the Mid-Career Service Award at the Epsilon Sigma Phi (ESP) National Conference in Fort Worth, Texas last week. The award recognizes outstanding efforts of Extension professionals with 10 to 20 years of service who exhibit continuing leadership and excellence in State Extension program planning, delivery, and evaluation in program and/or administration. One person is recognized from each of ESP's four regions. Professionals in all program areas and administration are considered for the award.

  3. Family & Consumer Sciences Educator Awarded Honor

    Jami Dellifield, Family and Consumer Sciences educator, was recently honored at an award ceremony in September at the Columbus Zoo and Aquarium for teaching over 1000 individuals (youth, teens, and adults) Mental Health First Aid.     The 2025 recipe book is available from today by going to go.osu.edu/25dishdaysrecipes and downloading the PDF or by stopping by the office in Kenton and requesting your FREE printed copy! This recipe book is jam packed with all of the recipes featured in the Homemaker's Demonstration Area at the Hardin County Fair.

  7. Garden Cover Crop Seed Available to Hardin County Residents Starting September 29

    The Ohio State University Extension in Hardin County is providing free fall cover crop seed to residents with vegetable gardens in Hardin County. Any Hardin County resident can receive up to 3 pounds of a cover crop seed mix for their vegetable garden.

    Residents should know their garden size and can pick up seeds at the OSU Extension office during business hours beginning on Monday, September 29 until supplies are gone.

    The office is located at 1021 West Lima Street, Suite 103, Kenton, OH 43326 and is open Monday to Friday from 8:00 AM to 4:30 PM.

  8. McBride Family Receives Award at 2025 Farm Science Review

    Jerry and Jayna McBride of Dola were recognized on Thursday morning of Farm Science Review in London, OH as one of five Conservation Family Farms. The McBrides operate a 1,230- acre, no-till corn and soybean farm and dedicate another 74 acres to woodlands.

    The award recognizes Ohio family farms for their water, woodland, and wildlife conservation efforts as well as their commitment to educating local school and farm organizations. Winners receive $400 from the Ohio Farm Bureau Federation and are featured in the September issue of Ohio Farmer magazine.

  9. Master Gardener Volunteers Plan Fall Children's Program

    The Hardin County Master Gardener Volunteers will hold their fall children's program at the Friendship Gardens on October 25 from 10 a.m. to noon. Halloween costumes are welcome to be worn to this event! Please see the flyer for further details.

  10. 2025 Hardin County Fair Scavenger Hunt

    We are hosting a scavenger hunt at the fair! Take photos of yourself, friends, or family completing this year's hunt and bring them to the Community Building to receive a 4-H water bottle to refill at the new water filling stations on the grounds. If you choose to upload your adventure to social media, please use the hashtag #HCF25.
