This year the County Fairboard will require all steers, dairy steers, and market heifers being exhibited at the 2020 Hardin County Junior Fair to be registered.  The County Extension Office will handle the registration electronically (desktop, laptop, tablet or mobile) this year. Paper forms are available to those who need them.  All animals must be registered by DECEMBER 22, 2019. 

The Tag-in/Weigh-in Day for the market steers, dairy steers & market heifers will be December 28, 2019 from 9:00am to 11:00am at the Hardin County Fairground’s beef barn. All market steers, dairy steers & market heifers that are to show in the 2020 Fair are required to be tagged. At the time of tagging, the Jr. Fair member will have the option to have their animals weighed to be eligible for the Rate of Gain Contest. The Jr. Fair Exhibitor will be given a copy of their weights to be put with their records. Two registered animals can be entered in the Market Beef Class at the Fair.  

The electronic registration form at this link go.osu.edu/hardinmarketsteer automatically returns to the OSU Extension office when completed. Registrations are due by December 22,2019. The OSU Extension office will contact your club/chapter advisor to verify your good standing once the registration has been submitted.

Market beef shown at the Ohio State Fair will be required to have a DNA hair sample on file in Columbus by JANUARY 15.  DNA kits are available at the OSU Extension office and will be also be available at the weigh-in/tagging.  Four market beef can be nominated to show.
