January 16, 2020 - 2:00pm -- fulton.235

The annual Hardin County Dairy Banquet will be held on Saturday, February 15 at 12:00 noon at the Plaza Inn Restaurant, Mt. Victory.  Tickets this year are $16.00 for adults and $8 for children ages 2-10 and free for ages under 2.  Junior Fair Dairy Exhibitors and Dairy Beef Feeder Exhibitors from the 2019 Hardin County Fair are eligible for a half-price ticket ($8).  All tickets must be prepaid to a Dairy Service Unit ticket salesperson.

Tickets are available for purchase through February 7th from the following county Dairy Service Unit Directors:
Dan & Molly Wagner, Keith Dirkson, Bret Rager, Janice Rall, Parry Rall, Chad Hazelton, Clair & Sue Sanders, Philip Bauer, Rose Scott, Nate Cromer, Corey Ledley, Vaughn Rall, and Heather Wedertz.  The Osborne Sisters will provide entertainment for the banquet.

The Hardin County Dairy Service Unit will be awarding a scholarship at their annual banquet.  Funds raised from the association’s semi-annual cheese sale are used to support higher education with this scholarship program.  This year there will be a basket of dairy items/gift cards that will be given away at the Hardin County Dairy Banquet.  Proceeds from the basket tickets sold at the banquet will also be used for the scholarship fund.  Please note scholarship eligibility as this year’s students must: have carried a 4-H or FFA Dairy Cattle project, a 4-H or FFA Dairy Beef Feeder/Dairy Steer project, were raised on a dairy farm, work on a dairy farm, currently live on a dairy farm, or be pursuing a dairy related education.  Any questions can be directed to the scholarship committee chair Peggy Cahill at 419-674-4040.

The Dairy Service Unit is also looking for a 2020 Hardin County Dairy Ambassador.  This person was previously called the Dairy Princess but now can be either a boy or girl.  The Dairy Ambassador will represent the Hardin County Dairy Service Unit by promoting the dairy industry in parades, events during the fair, and in other promotional events over the course of the year.  Contestants must be 14-19 years of age as of January 1, 2020.  They must either show dairy cattle, live or work on a dairy farm.  Questions about the Dairy Ambassador program can be directed to Tori Kirian at 419-674-2297.

Applications can be submitted online for both the scholarship at go.osu.edu/hardindairyscholarship and the 2020 Hardin County Dairy Ambassador at go.osu.edu/hardindairyambassador by February 7.  Printed copies of the applications can be obtained by contacting the OSU Extension office in Kenton.
