    Celebrating the significant accomplishments and deep impact that OSU Extension has had on communities and in the lives of Ohioans provides a great springboard for the future. A significant component of Ohio’s celebration in 2014 will be a year-long process focused on our future. The primary work this year will center on futuring – asking questions about and envisioning the long-term future of OSU Extension as well as the role the organization should play in shaping and positively impacting Ohio and Ohio residents.

    Our three-day Annual Conference provides an opportunity for all Extension professionals to: Share and broaden their knowledge of the scholarship of Extension work and university research. Build relationships between Extension professionals and university faculty to foster expanded applied research opportunities.     We have an exciting educational program planned for you and your family! The 2014 Buckeye Shepherd’s Symposium will focus on “Management and Breeding Practices to Put Your Flock on the Roadmap to Productivity Improvement”. Speakers with expertise in Nutrition and Genetics, Artificial Insemination and Embryo Transfer, Ram and Ewe Management, and Beginning Shepherd’s Sessions are confirmed. You’ll enjoy the diversity of the program as well as attending one of the best sheep and goat networking events of 2014.

    OSIA and OHSIA will be hosting a National Sheep Improvement Program (NSIP) workshop in Wooster, OH on Dec. 5, the afternoon prior to the Buckeye Shepherd’s Symposium. The program is a computerized, performance-based program for genetic selection. NSIP is designed to help purebred and commercial sheep producers identify the best genetic stock for their breeding programs. Dr. Reid Redden, North Dakota State University Sheep Specialist, and chair of the NSIP, will be the speaker for the workshop.

    The Hardin County Homemaker’s Council and Clubs invite you to the 66th annual Christmas Program and Luncheon, scheduled for Tuesday, December 2 at the First United Methodist Church, 234 N.Main St., Kenton.  “There’s Music in the Air” is the theme of the day.  All interested persons are welcomed to attend.
