It’s that time of year again for the Master Gardeners of Hardin County to host their 14th annual plant sale. It will be held on Saturday, May 13th at the Fairground’s Arts and Crafts building. The sale will be from 10:00 am until noon. Refreshments will be available for a donation. Joining the sale will be the Men’s Garden Club, Hardin County Herb Society, Deep Roots Garden Club, and Dailey's Daylilies. Write down any of your gardening questions as there will be experienced gardeners on hand to answer them. These healthy plants come from private gardens, so you will be able to gain first-hand knowledge from the gardeners on how to raise them. A large selection of perennials and annuals will be available for the homeowner to use to beautify the landscaping around their property. Plants available to choose from include flowers, bedding plants, roses, herbs, trees, and various other potted plants.
The OSU Extension Master Gardeners is a group of trained volunteers who conduct educational programs related to gardening and other horticultural topics to the public. The group has an educational garden called ‘The Friendship Gardens of Hardin County.’ This garden is located at 960 Kohler Street in Kenton, which is behind the Harco Industries building. Volunteers are available to conduct education programs by contacting the Extension office. The Master Gardeners also have a Facebook page called Hardin County OSU Extension Master Gardeners where members of the public can submit photos of weeds, insects, or diseases and ask gardening or horticultural questions about trees, shrubs, ornamental plants, turf, and landscaping ideas.
