The Hardin County Men’s Garden Club with the assistance of the Hardin County Master Gardeners, is sponsoring “An Evening Garden Affair” on Monday evening June 22nd at the Friendship Gardens of Hardin County, located at 960 Kohler Street in Kenton. The program is from 6 to 9 pm and will feature a landscape design presentation by gardening expert Tom Wood from NBC4 in Columbus.
Tom received a Bachelor of Science degree in agriculture from The Ohio State University with a specialty in landscape horticulture, construction and maintenance. Since graduating from OSU more than 30 years ago, Tom has had the opportunity to develop his craft working and traveling as a professional horticulturist with stints at Marriott, Red Roof Inns, and a number of landscape contractors. His extensive professional experience helped to refine his vision for Wood Landscape Services, Ltd., established in 1990. As president, Tom and his team of certified professionals do whatever it takes to design, build and maintain exceptional outdoor environments.
He is landscape industry certified, nationally, through PLANET (Professional Landcare Network) and at the state level through The Ohio Nursery and Landscape Association. Tom has served as a board member and president of the Columbus Landscape Association. He served as a board member and chair of the education committee for the Ohio Nursery and Landscape Association in addition to his role on the Hilliard Street Tree Commission.
This event is free and open to the public, rain or shine with the program inside the Harco workshop. Master Gardener Volunteers will be stationed throughout the Friendship Gardens for the evening to answer your gardening questions. Door prizes and refreshments will be part of the evening festivities. If you have not visited the Friendship Gardens, this will provide you with an ideal time for your first visit and to come away with good gardening information and advice.
The evening begins at 6 pm with causal browsing in the garden and refreshments. Tom Wood will speak at 7 pm and the evening will continue after his presentation with a further chance to explore the Friendship Gardens. All who have an interest in gardening will not want to miss this event. Parking is at the garden off Kohler Street or in front of Harco Industries.
